Summary on Grant Application Form |
The investigation will centre on geometric integration: discretization methods that are assured to respect major quantitative and geometric aspects of ordinary and partial differential systems. In particular (1) the classification of Lie-group methods according to their algebra features; (2) combination of Lie-group solvers with splitting and with the Thue-Morse technique; (3) computation of semi-group invariants, eg dissipativity and Lyapunov functions; (4) research into methods that carry significantly smaller error on invariants than in the solution per se.
