Summary on Grant Application Form |
The main aim of this research is to extend the domain of applicability of existing results in the general area of robust nonlinear control systems. In particular, we seek to improve the way in which the structure of the target nonlinear system is exploited. Our work will include a case study on power converters and induction motors. We aim to develop closed formulae for robust control laws and computational algorithms of modest complexity. As a result, implementable robust control schemes will be made available. We seek to study the role of Hamiltonian structure, or dissipative structure in the design of robust feedback control laws, which rely on limited measurements. We also aim to study the physical interpretation of abstract system theoretic concepts such as relative degree, robust control Lyapunov function, and their connection with the existence of robust control laws.
