Summary on Grant Application Form |
The leadership of manufacturing business is facing a major challenge from dynamic markets, discerning customers and increased global competition; there is pressure for companies to become more agile, virtual and team based. This research will extend our knowledge of manufacturing leadership by exploring how leadership style, knowledge and training vary with, and in response to, modern manufacturing challenges. Current leadership theory explores the relationship between leadership style and the characteristics of the people being led. This research is aimed at determining the relationship between leadership and the manufacturing context, which is the engineering context that the leader has to work in. The results of the research will be directly applied to the Cambridge Manufacturing Leaders Programme and also in the collaborating companies.
