Summary on Grant Application Form |
The research will involve the application of parallel synthesis to linker construction to facilitate the evaluation and optimisation of a novel linker for solid-phase organic chemistry. The methodology will be applied to the synthesis of a photolabile traceless linker library based on a thiohydroxamic acid template. The members of the library are designed to release an aliphatic CH bond on UV irradiation. The efficiency of photo cleavage of the library members will be evaluated and stability to a variety of chemical reagents will be investigated using analytical constructs. The optimum linker will be identified from the library and the scope of this linker to release a variety of functional groups will be explored.
