Summary on Grant Application Form |
The Urban Water Research Group aims to play a major international role in research, teaching, and knowledge dissemination. Research topics to be tackled by the Group include: extending recycling research to a larger scale, and to nutrient fluxes; developing water distribution system operation techniques and responding to new supply initiatives (eg common carriage); exploiting increasingly available large urban data sets (eg remotely sensed ground data, GIS stored utility data); exploring and incorporating more fundamental process descriptions into models, and minimising unnecessary approximations; integrating the major sub-systems to enhance performance optimisation (eg wastewater system coupled to water system); marrying decision support techniques (including socio-economic aspects) with systems analysis tools; operationalising and incorporating the concepts of sustainability.Training and dissemination activities will include: developing the Group's new journal; developing the urban-drainage email list; running international urban water seminars; developing multi-media training and distance learning tools.EngProg\
