Summary on Grant Application Form |
1he aim is to train 7 students p.a. for careers as analysts in pharmaceutical, chemical or environmental labs. The course will build on the strengths of an existing EPSRC supported IAMBEC programme and will be based on a series of taught modules (15 lectures per module + practicaVworkshops) each of2 weeks duration, followed by a 15 week research project. Team building will fOf-I!l part of the course, and students will also acquire a range of transferable skills. Objectives are that the students will be able to: I. understand the basis of, and use of a wide spectrum of analytical instrumentation, 2. gain competence with computers, the use of the internet, database searches, e-mail and structure drawing etc. 3. understand a range of data analysis techniques and their application to problems in analytical chemistry, 4. assess and source equipment and other laboratory needs 5. be aware of how the status of the laboratory (e.g. UKAS accredited. GLP, GMP) affects the work of the analyst , 6. work as a team member, and develo flexible workin skills embracin continual chan es in the work lace.
