The purpose of the MSc in Human Communication and Computing course is to provide a small but well-qualified, and eminently capable workforce, with multidisciplinary knowledge and skills, intellectually equipped to take full advantage of the rapidly changing domain of communication and communication technology.The aim is to provide a multidisciplinary postgraduate taught programme that will: be pitched ahead of the current technology, and so cater for emerging market needs; address theoretical, empirical, practical and systemic aspects of the design and evaluation of technological and social contexts of communication systems. The course will combine expertise in communication systems, computer science, human computer interaction, cognitive science and the psychology and sociology.The objective is to produce graduates who will be able to contribute professionally to the rapidly growing world of communication and information technology; understand the effects of these developments on everyday life, and undertake professional work on the human-technology interface. In order to achieve these objectives, students must be taught to be competent in dealing with the use of information and information technology. understand the interaction between these developments and their cognitive, social, contextual and cultural effects, and be capable of undertaking cutting edge research and development in industry, government and academia
