Summary on Grant Application Form
The purpose of the research is to discover if phase inversion can provide a feasible and effective means of emulsifying materials from which dispersed solids can be formed. Non-ionic surfactants will be used and it will be necessary to determine how the composition and viscosity of the fluids affect the phase inversion. The research will help industry to identify circumstances in which phase inversion is a preferred method for producing fine aqueous dispersions. The project could provide a basis for new methods for manufacturing surface coatings, dispersed pharmaceuticals or agricultural chemicals.
