Summary on Grant Application Form |
The context is a 60ha development by the University of Cambridge involving dozens of clients bodies, consultants, contractors and complex relations with the academic community, the city and funding agencies. Owing to the exigencies of funding, there is a high degree of uncertainty as to what will happen, where and when, and a correspondingly high need for a continuous flow of information on plans and progress. We aim to use web-based methods, both established and innovative, to provide two way sharing of information between masterplanners, building and infrastructure designers, constructors, clients and the public. The technology will build on low-cost VR techniques, and computer animation mixed with helicopter video, developed in previous research projects. The practical impact of the whole web-site will be monitored and reported to the industry.
