Summary on Grant Application Form
We request support for a collaborative project between the departments of Physics and Chemistry at Southampton, to develop new magnetic and superconducting materials structured on nm length scales. Our plans are based on a method of electrochemical deposition using template methods recently developed in the Southampton Electrochemistry Group. Both nanostructured metallic films and systems consisting of nm-sized rods in a silica matrix will be fabricated and characterised. In particular the project will concentrate on materials with potential applications in magnetic recording and as high current density conductors.
