Summary on Grant Application Form |
The work proposed centres on the fabrication and characterisation of molecular rectifying structures which comprise three layers, a non-centrosymmetric molecular layer encapsulated by two gold electrodes the key stages of this project are:a) Cold deposition of gold top electrodes and the obtaining of rectifying characteristics at room temperature from few layers of rectifying molecules.b) Cooling the optimum samples so that we are able to explore the physics of molecularly controlled processes in a simple rectifying structure.
