Summary on Grant Application Form |
Advances in mathematics and computing are of increasing importance in the analysis of very large data sets. Such data sets are found in many areas of industry from web traffic logs, telecoms backbone analysis, and road traffic analysis to finance and engineering. This training package is aimed at providing students with (i) mathematical skills which are directly applicable to the analysis of large industrial and commercial datasets and (ii) presentational and team-working skills; allowing confidence and fluency in presenting mathematical and technical ideas to both specialists and non-specialists.
