|
The UK is playing a leading role in the design of many electronics systems based on integrated circuits and embedded software. The contribution of the UK is limited by the availability of skilled engineers. Without the provision of significant additional postgraduate education the UK will fail to play its full role in these high value-added markets.The objective of this programme is to provide a modular course through which new integrated circuit (IC) design engineers can receive training in specific aspects of IC design and experienced engineers can learn about new technology as needed. It will offer a catalogue of the highest quality modules selected to meet the demands of industry. These will be based on the modules already offered by the Institute for System Level Integration (ISLI), the Radio Frequency Engineering Education Initiative (RFEEI), Bolton Institute and other universities. All the modules will be upgraded to make optimum use of computer-based distance learning and to address the specific educational needs of the industry.
