Summary on Grant Application Form |
The project brings together the health and social service sectors with industry to investigate the benefits and applications of information and communications technologies to deliver 'telecare'. We propose to develop a computer model to simulate a range of telecare delivery scenarios and conduct and evaluate live trials. This will allow us to better understand the implementation barriers and develop business models for the possible widespread use of telecare to enhance care in the community. The project will contribute towards the Government's aim to modernise the NHS and social services and improve the provision of care, especially for elderly people. We will also show which technologies are likely to become available and approximately when, so that the healthcare professions and Government can undertake medium term resource planning.
