To provide specialist postgraduate masters-level training in photonics and solid-state physics and optoelectronic devices, tailored to the needs of the optoelectronics and telecommunications industry.To provide full-time training for graduate-level candidates, including technical communication and business awareness training, preparing them for entry to SMEs or major companies with photonics research, development or sales activity.To provide experimental skills training at the two Universities, exploiting existing major teaching laboratory facilities, and to provide (three-month) project training at industrial laboratories.To create a suite of distance learning packages for flexible, on-site learning for company employees, based on new and selected existing course modules and simulation packages.
