Summary on Grant Application Form |
The research described in this proposal aims to investigate some of the factors affecting the stability and reactivity of chiral organometallic species. The use of dynamic resolution of chiral organolithium and other organometallic species will be studied in order to gain information concerning the factors affecting the configurational stability of organometallic species. Addition of a variety of electrophiles will permit the study of the mode of reaction (retention or inversion) and give access to many different enantiomerically enriched products. The chemistry will be applied to the preparation of substituted heteroaromatics, piperidines and other heterocycles of biological significance.
