Summary on Grant Application Form |
The development in mobile telecommunications technology will drive a desire for increased access to distributed information sources from any place and at any time. However, there will always be a fundamental mismatch between the volume of content and the available bandwidth to deliver it to the users. This will lead to a need for new intelligent information processing systems, which are able to understand completely the user's context and appreciate the capacity of their network access technology, such that information is prioritised to ensure that the most relevant and valuable information is delivered in a time efficient manner. Whilst existing work has considered the general problem of context awareness, there has been fundamental lack of attention to appreciating the relationship between distrubuted information, work flow process models and the technical performance of the delivery networks. This research proposal therefore intends to redress this omission and develop new methods for defining work flow models which embrace distributed information sources, understand the capability of the delivery networks and achieve prioritisation of user information flow.
