Summary on Grant Application Form |
Using our unique code, HELIUM, we intend to perform further world-leading high-accuracy calculations in full-dimensionality of the intense-field ionisation dynamics of 2-electron atoms. The calculations fall into the following four categories:Low frequency intense-field interactions 400 nm = ? = 800 nmHigh frequency intense-field interactions ? < 100 nmAbove threshold ionisation (ATI) spectra and momenta spectraTime-dependent ionisation dynamics of quasi 2-electron atoms (Mg, Ca)To make these high-accuracy and intensely demanding calculations not just efficient but even possible on the most powerful machines available to UK scientists over the period, we plan three major algorithmic developments for incorporation in HELIUM. These are:Implementation of a decorrelation transformation for treating the ionising outer electron in a 2-electron atomImplementation of a hybrid Krylov sub-space/Linear Mutistep propagatorTransformation of wavefunctions to momentum space
