Summary on Grant Application Form |
The aim of the proposed programme of work is to undertake the theoretical analysis, via appropriate mathematical methods, of the flow of a thin viscous film over surface features. Three problems of scientific and technological importance will be examined:1. how contact lines enter surface features;2. film break-up due to disjoining pressure;3. Marangoni induced thermocapillary motion with ultimate goal levelling of the free-surface.
