Summary on Grant Application Form |
The synthetic programme involves the preparation of oxide, nitrile and related main group compounds containing 'bare' E2- and E3- centres. This will be achieved by two strategies, namely, selective modification of [Sn4 (NR)4] cubane frameworks and the application of the resulting [Sn4 (NR)3E]X- ligands, and by trapping main group oxide and related fragments by co-ordination. A range of new heterometallic main group/transition metal complexes will be prepared, structurally characterised, and their (magnetic, electronic) properties investigated. The ability of selected mixed-metal complexes of this type to deposit mixed-metal oxide and nitrides will also be investigated.
