Summary on Grant Application Form
The Loughborough University Optical Engineering Group is internationally recognised and is the UK's largest research group engaged in the application of modern optics and laser technology to engineering. The Group has pioneered and developed a wide range of proven industrial tools based upon its research which are now applied across industrial end-users world-wide. A Platform Grant is proposed that will enhance the infrastructure of the Group such that it has a foundation and opportunity to secure the long-term continuation of its leading edge research and the ability to add value by mechanisms to promote its dissemination and exploitation. Funding is requested for additional manpower and travel funds that will enable the Group to scope and explore new interdisciplinary research ideas generated from existing research both within the Group and elsewhere, and from a series of study tours and workshops involving the international optical engineering community.
