Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal is for funds to purchase a 300 MHz multinuclear NMR spectrometer and accessories to support a range of research projects in inorganic and organic chemistry. These include studies of catalytic processes using water-soluble phosphines (Dr Pringle), asymmetric synthesis (Prof Aggarawal), stable carbenes and cyclic diphosphines (Prof Alder), stereodynamic processes at nitrogen and novel chiral ligands (Dr Lloyd-Jones), novel NMR techniques and phosphorus chemistry (Dr Murray) and transition metal catalysed diboration reactions (Dr Norman). These projects require extensive and rapid access to state-of-the-art 31P NMR facilities, as well as a range of other nuclei (11B, 195Pt, 103Rh, 183W, 95Mo etc), not only for direct observation, but also indirect observation (1H-{X} HMQC and other 2-dimensional experiments).
