Summary on Grant Application Form |
We seek funds to purchase state-of-the-art equipment to further promote interdisciplinary research in four areas which the University has identified as central to its future strategy.1. The application of silicon carbide in power electronics and the role and control of surfaces and interfaces.2. Establishment of a multi-disciplinary group in wireless electronic security systems, based on two recent professorial appointments.3. Developing new approaches to mass spectrometry with particular application in biological systems.4. Extending our leading edge numerical modelling research to complex fluids and the cold rolling of steelThe University has invested heavily in these areas in terms of new staff, space and equipment. The areas identified are Foresight priorities and are likely to contribute to the economy as well as to basic research.
