Summary on Grant Application Form
The application is for funds to hold a satellite workshop of the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences 2001 programme on integrable systems. In our workshop, the stress will be put on the symmetry approach and quantum integrable systems. These areas are at the core of the subject of integrability. The workshop will take place at the International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) in Edinburgh from December 2-8th 2001. There will be approximately 60 participants including 25 invited speakers. The ICMS will provide funds to partially support an additional 10 UK participants, and we are seeking funds from the EU to support up to 15 young UK and European participants. The workshop, and this application, have the full support of both the Newton Institute and the ICMS. The Newton Institute has agreed to contribute up to 7000 of the funds we are seeking to cover the expenses of the invited speakers. The workshop will be organised by E Corrigan (York), C Eilbeck (Heriot-Watt), T Miwa (Kyoto) and R Weston (Heriot-Watt).
