To provide industrial experience and personal development for Clive Roberts with Railtrack, GTRM and Jarvis Facilities;To initiate the transfer of technology from the Level Crossing Barrier (LCB) case study to other track side assets within the rail industry (eg track circuits, point machines);To evaluate methods of utilising the technology to aid with day-to-day maintenance on Britain's railways;To increase the existing failure data pool and to further analyse the data collection in order to develop generic algorithms for the detection of incipient failure.
