Summary on Grant Application Form |
Homogeneous ruthenium(II)-arene complexes catalyse a wide and diverse range of organic transformations, some of which are industrially important. We intend to heterogenise the ruthenium(ii) reagents in a new way to C60 and other carbon cages and then screen the activity of the new catalytic materials in various reactions, notably Markovnikov addition and ring closing metathesis. It is believed that the support will not only offer conducive solubility properties and prevent leeching of the ruthernium, but also enhance the activity of catalyst.
