Summary on Grant Application Form |
The main benefits of this research will be to the manufacturers, users and regulators of railway rolling stock. It is anticipated that costs can be reduced by increasing the effectiveness of inspections and that safety will be enhanced by decreasing wheelset failures.More generally, the development of and the demonstration of miniature load recording devices willbenefit a wide range of applications where the measurement of actual service loads is currently both difficult and expensive.
