Summary on Grant Application Form |
Professor Dafermos plans to spend from January to June 2001 on sabbatical in Oxford. While there he will give a course on nonlinear hyperbolic systems in several space dimensions, a very important but largely open field. He will also visit several leading centres in applied analysis and partial differentialequations in the UK.He will carry out research on conservation laws with memory dissipation, and, jointly with the proposer, on the relevance of quasiconvexity and related conditions in elastodynamics.
