Summary on Grant Application Form |
An international team: Walton (UK), Aldaz (Spain), Compton (UK), Delplancke (Belgium), and Oliviera Brett (Portugal) will collaborate upon sonoelectrochemistry. This technique, which is an innovative method for chemical transformation, is of considerable current interest and the ultrasonic irradiation of electrochemical cells has been shown to produce a variety of benefits of potential practical usefulness.Sonoelectrochemistry is an example of a system in which there is dual perturbation to initiate transformation, and the team has been chosen because of their wider interest in further hybrid enhancements of electrochemistry (for example involving supercritical fluids or involving the combination with microwaves). Such systems will be compared with sonoelectrochemistry appropriately throughout the programme.
