Summary on Grant Application Form |
SrTi03-Sr2Nb2O7 (STN) compounds are composed of perovskite units (n=4-6) separated and sheared by 1/2[111] on (110) planes by SrO layers. The processing, properties and microstructure of STN will be studied for potential use as microwave ceramics. Although relative permittivities and quality factors have not been measured, high values, 60-90 and 15,000 at 1GHz, respectively, are expected since the compounds are composed of (Ti,Nb)06 octahedra. The temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (TCF) will be systematically varied by altering the SrTiO3-Sr2Nb20, ratio since this will affect the tolerance factor and the number of Sr0 layers r unit volume: two factors recentl shown to control TCF.
