Summary on Grant Application Form |
Laser irradiation of solutions and melts of polar organic solids in their metastable zones will be used to provoke and define the degree eof prenucleation clustering. The former through the third non linear Kerr effect (at high laser powers) to include ordering, and the latter through the second order non-linear (second harmonic generation) effect (all powers) to detect ordering. The data will provide evidence for when molecular organisation commences and will allow an assessment of its magnitude and development with time.
