The structure of neutron-rich isotopes will be studied by performing measurements of the properties of excited states populated as the result of spontaneous and reaction-induced fission. Measurements of g-factors will be undertaken using static hyperfine and transient field techniques in experiments involving fragments from a 252Cf source. Measurements of lifetimes in 12C-induced fission of 238U using a Doppler-profile technique will be undertaken primarily to address questions of the structure of heavy cadmium isotopes. The fragment-gamma correlations from a 248Cm source will be investigated to shed light on correlations between gamma-rays emitted from the two different fission fragments which may lead to information regarding the orientation of the fragment spin vectors at the scission point. These data will also provide lifetime measurements.
