Summary on Grant Application Form |
Abstract of proposed research (not exceeding 100 words) The research will investigate transition metal-mediated polymerisation processes under the unique conditions accessible in dichloromethane-like supercritical hydrofluorocarbon (scHFC) solvents. Investigations will focus on the effect of the solvent on molecular weight, molecular weight distribution and polymerisation rate for two types of transition metal-initiated polymerisation processes for various monomers. A study will also be carried out into molecular weight fractionation via fine pressure control that is facilitated by the high degree of tunability in scHFCs close to the critical pressure.
