This study will investigate the scope for introducing recent developments in the acquisition of knowledge in theory dominated hydro-environmental related fields, to produce more accurate and realistic modelling tools. The main aims of the proposed research project are to: (a) investigate the data-driven knowledge discovery process approach and its application in the field of hydro-environmental modelling, (b) develop a new generation of modelling tools using the most advanced computer programming and data mining techniques, and (c) apply these methods and software tools to practical hydroenviromnental problems.
