Summary on Grant Application Form |
This proposal attacks several issues relating to compressibility effects in viscoelastic flows. With background in compressible gas flow and incompressible flow modelling, we shall analyse the advantages of compressible effects in viscoelastic flows. Introduction of compressibility into viscoelastic system of equations can offer many advantages, both numerically and physically, including enhanced stability, better solution procedures and the possiblity of calculating local density changes. We shall employ the CBS and FE/SUPG schemes for compressible viscoelastic flows or their variants, cross-fertilizating research expertise from such multi-disciplinary backgrounds as computational engineering and computational rheology.
