Summary on Grant Application Form |
The applicants propose the formation of a Network of Experts in VR Applied to Construction Processes (NET-VRCON) that will run over three years. To date there is no formal dedicated forum for VR applications in construction where knowledge and development can be disseminated, shared, exchanged and debated. The mission of the network is to bring together international researchers and practitioners in all areas of the construction industry and promote efficient exchange of ideas and develop mutual understanding of needs and potential innovation in which VR can be applied. The objective of the network is to report and disseminate outputs/progress of innovative international research activities in this field and formulate strategies for future industrial needs and research direction. Main activities of the network: 1 An N+N launch meeting in London to get early momentum for the network, and to ensure that it is engaging with leading researchers internationally. 2 Five further meetings at different sites in the UK with video conferencing (where necessary) inta4otion with nationallinternationai collaborators. Themes of the meetings will include: Identify industrial innovation which can benefit from the application of VR, Create an industrial awareness of the technology and its potentials and business process issues. 3 Disseminate international research output to the academic and industrial communities, and 4 Identify the state-of-the-art research activities in the field on VR application in construction.
