Summary on Grant Application Form |
The course organisers have extensive experience in circular dichroism spectroscopy both from a practical and theoretical viewpoint. They represent a collaboration between the physical (AR) and life science (BW) approaches to the implementation of CD spectroscopy to the structural characterisation of biomacromolecules. This proposal has arisen from their working together on the the scientific advisory group for the BMS supported Centre for Protein and Membrane Structure and Dynamics (CPMSD) at Daresbury. It has become apparent that a course such as that outlined in the proposal is despeately needed by students trying to establish themselves in the interdisciplinary area of biophysical characterisation of biomacromolecules. Few departments have the required expertise to enable students to span the range of training they require. The summer school aims to equip students with the spectroscopic expertise they will need to pursue their research projects.
