Summary on Grant Application Form
The Neural Coding Workshop in Plymouth (10-14 Sept. 2001) will bring together leading specialists in brain modeling, physics of living systems, experimental neuroscience and engineering to discuss the latest experimental and theoretical results on neural coding and to develop new insights into the principles of information processing in the brain. The aim of this workshop is to stimulate a novel more integrated approach to the study of neural coding, with a special focus on functional and system level constraints on neural coding. All participants are selected for their potential to contribute to this approach and will be invited by name. All participants contribute to their costs and financial support is applied for for keeping the registration fees at a reasonable level, while providing a good experience to the participants. It is also intended for giving financial support to a small number of participants from countries with weak currencies and for reducing the fees of postgraduate students.Papers will be published after the workshop in a Special Issue of Biosystems, Journal of Biological Information Sciences, Elsevier, and workshop information will be available on the workshop website http://www.tech.plym.ac.uk/ncws200l
