Summary on Grant Application Form
A soft computing system is to be designed for knowledge discovery from large real life data sets. Different soft computing tools like fuzzy sets, neural networks, rough sets, genetic algorithms and decision trees will be used, for synergistically exploiting their generic and application-specific merits. Knowledge will be represented in the form of symbolic/natural rules. Input and output can be in qualitative or numeric forms. Quantitative measures are to be developed for evaluating the effectiveness of the extracted rules. The problem will be partitioned, based on features and samples, to enable efficient scaling to large data sets. Effect of multi-resolution representation will also be investigated.
