Summary on Grant Application Form |
We will provide MSc level bioinformatics training to students with an undergraduate degree in computer science, jphysics, mathematics or related disciplines. In the year-long programme, students will receive a short, intensivecourse in basic biology; an introduction to biological data; lectures on computing with (and XML technology for)biological data; and a module on research methodology. Students will carry out a short mini-project as an introductionto biological research, followed by a 5-month project. Both of these will take place within a biological laboratory, toenable students to better understand the source of biological data and to hone their communicative skills in this second language . Projects will be jointly supervised by a member of the laboratory and a member of the Division of Informatics. Students will also take four modules from some 50 MSc modules available within Informatics, depending on the student's background and special interests.
