Summary on Grant Application Form |
The main aim of this proposal is to bring Professor Nelson to the UK for an extended visit of 6 months. The primary purpose Is to establish a collaborative research program between Professor Nelson and the research team in the IAM Group at Southampton, focussing on the integration of the Southampton work on ontological linking and open hypermedia with Professor Nelson's work on item-based computing as personified in his proposed ZigZag system. This work overlaps significantly with elements of both the AKT and Equator IRCs and during his visit Professor Nelson will interact with both the AKT and Equator IRC teams, so that each can learn from the other. Whilst in the UK, it is expected that Professor Nelson will undertake a number of public speaking engagements that will contribute to the wider public awareness of his ideas and views.
