Summary on Grant Application Form |
We propose to provide a highly interactive experimental and computational analysis facility organised in a number of thematic laboratories. Our principal aim is to characterise materials and processes using state-of-the-art mufti-scalemeasurement and modelling techniques that link micro (particles and surfaces) to meso (assembly and rheology) and to macro (process vessel design) length scales. The equipment requested will enhance our existing facilities considerably and thus complete our requirements to be able to provide a fast and highly effective route to tailoring of materials and design of processes to suit industrial needs. Linking of length-scales in materials in process investigations is achieved by co-ordinating quantitative measurement techniques which are streamlined within the Particle and SurfaceCharacterization, Bulk Material Characterization, Multiphase Rheology and Environmental Bio-Process Laboratories.
