Summary on Grant Application Form
The goal of this proposal is to develop a computational capability for accurate predictions of fluid flow in porous media including estimates of the uncertainty in those predictions due to lack of knowledge of the subsurface properties. The research will cover linking the microscale to the macroscale via network models of porous media to accurately define flow regimes, will cover linking of reservoir stress state to fluid flow simulations, and will cover techniques to generate multiple reservoir models to assess uncertainty. A key element will be a methodology to alter scale so that as more data is available, models can be generated and modelled at a fine enough scale to resolve the flow features needed.
