The Cambridge EDC is a research centre for the development, validation and dissemination of advanced design methods for technical systems. The research programme reflects UK industry's need for the best design methods and tools to achieve economic competitiveness, and to improve the quality of life through wealth creation.The overall aim is to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering designers and design teams by undertaking research into the theories that will underpin the design methods of the future. These methods will be embodied in software tools, workbooks and publications that support the creation of reliable, high-quality, cost-effective products.The EDC has earned an international reputation for its generic design research through its publications, presence at international conferences, and networking with other design research groups.
