Summary on Grant Application Form |
Optical waveguides and microcavities are essential building blocks for photonic devices and systems. The proposed project willdevelop innovative analytical simulation techniques to enable investigation of advanced designs for novel optoelectronic devicesbased upon non-standard waveguide and cavity geometries, The focus is on investigating new physical effects that can only beaccurately modelled by rigorous analytical techniques. As these techniques provide clear physical insight, the project will yield highquality designs before costly fabrication is necessary. Complete validation of the simulations will be performed, which will then beapplied to a wide range of very promising components for a variety of emerging optical systems.
