Summary on Grant Application Form |
We will synthesise a range of new, chiral bis(phosphine), bis(phosphite), bis(phosphonite) and bis(phosphinite) 'PCP- and 'PNP'-pincer ligands. Late transition metal complexes of these ligands will be tested as catalysts in asymmetric Heck, Suzuki, cyclopropanation, Lewis acid catalysed, aldol and transfer hydrogenation reactions. This study will inform us as to which ligands and catalysts to optimise in these reactions for best activity and stereoselectivity. It is anticipiated that many of the comple)s will show high stereoselectivity as a result of the 'deep chiral pock' formed by the pincer ligands on the metal's coordination sphere.
