Summary on Grant Application Form |
Deterioration of water quality within a distribution network is a serious problem. Given large uncertainties about the state of anetwork and the physical processes that occur, the feasibility of a simplified approach to quality management will be explored. The essential features are: An assumption that reducing the time that water resides in the network will improve its quality Identification of innovative strategies for reducing residence times, e.g. by network reconfiguration and/or re-circulation of flow Novel optimisation routines based on evolutionary programming to generate optimal management schemes for a network base on these strategies.
