Summary on Grant Application Form |
There has been a fruitful collaboration between the Nanoelectronics Research Centre at Glasgow and the Quantum Transport group in Nottingham for about 15 years during which time over 50 papers have been published. This proposal is for funds to allow this collaboration to continue. The work involved in this new proposal involves the fabrication of laterally patterned submicron devices on Ill-V materials for study at Nottingham. The devices include resonant tunneling diodes, Bohm-Aharanov rings with an integrated nano magnet, and magnetic superlattices with deep submicron periods. These devices require a blend of the nanofabrication skills developed in Glasgow over many years including high resolution electron beam lithography and low damag dry etching. A PDRA from Nottingham has been trained in nanofabrication technology in Glasgow and it is proposed that he should work in Glasgow fabricating these devices for approximately twelve weeks per year.
