Summary on Grant Application Form |
It is well known that by removing moisture from the soil and creating negative pore water pressures, vegetation can help stabilize slopes. However, quantification of this effect is difficult and in most analyses of slope stability the influence of vegetation is usually ignored. This research aims to investigate the feasibility of accounting for the effect of vegetation on pore water pressures in soils in numerical analyses of by imposing appropriate flow boundary conditions. Cyclic seasonal effects will also be considered.
