Summary on Grant Application Form |
To carry out a number of controlled gaseous chemical tracer releases(using compounds such as the inert perfluorinated dimethyl cyclohexanes(PDMCH)) in street canyons under a variety of meteorological conditions. To collect samples of air at up to twelve suitable receptor locations adjacent to the release site, probably within 800 meters., in a number of Tedlar bags, at least ten bags at each site., over a period of 1 hour following the release. To determine the concentrations of the PDMCH racer using gas chromatography/negative ion mass spectrometry. These techniques have been developed at Bristol under the URGENT thematic programme are highly selectve and ultra-sensitive.The data will then be made available to the modelling groups such as those at Cambridge who are part of the consortia.
